Receiving weather images from NOAA satellites

There are 4 active NOAA satellites in a low orbit around the earth.
Approximately every hour you can receive a cloud image, transmitted from the satellites.
With a regular receiver or scanner and a computer your can receive and converter the signal to a clear image.
The problem with satellites is the circular polarization of the signal. There for I made a crossed dipole.
The receiver that was used is a common dual band portable receiver, a kenwood TH-D7.

Here you will find more weather images from NOAA satellites

The crossed dipole

Crossed dipool for 137.500MHz

After making the antenna (without the reflector) I got this design from ON4AEE, an article from CQ DL.

One dipole is connected to the points C and D.
The other dipool is fed from point C and D with a ¼ wave transformer.
The ¼ wave transformer is made of 75 ohm coax with a length of 360mm.

Received 18/01/07 from NOAA 17 on 137.620MHz and made with WXtoImg.
